Like many traditional gymnastics facilities, Extreme Gymnastics in Glasgow, Kentucky offers classes for cheerleading and dance, as well as recreational and competitive gymnastics. Looking to diversify and increase community interest in children’s offerings, owner Larry Glass decided to purchase a Soft Play playground.
Glass’ investment goal was to increase the gym’s monthly birthday parties. “In terms of participation, our children’s parties and gymnastic lessons feed off one another due to the increased exposure. Children who attend parties become interested in lessons, and vice versa,” he said.
Glass appears to have underestimated the impact of a playground. In his first month, birthday parties doubled. In his second month, the parties tripled.
“We went from 30 parties a month to 120 in each of the following two months. I anticipate we will easily exceed 150 parties most months of the year. Needless to say, I am very satisfied with my decision.”
Extreme Gymnastics’ commercial playground, which can accommodate up to 100 children at a time, features a variety of Soft Play components like the Wacky Ball court, a Rock Course Climbing Wall, two circular slides, as well as police cars and airplanes.
“Glasgow is a town of only 13,000 people, without a lot to offer our young kids in terms of entertainment. We are happy to be able to offer this to our community,” Glass said.
