Gold’s Gym defined the fitness industry in the 1970s with its no-frills bodybuilding expertise and its ability to create fitness celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno.
Since then, Gold’s Gym has become the largest co-ed gym in the world, and has evolved into a multi-use facility that encourages families, as well as individuals, to achieve the highest level of fitness.
Garnett Furnish, Operations Manager for several Gold’s Gyms in the Southeast, added a Soft Play playground to his Lexington, Kentucky facility as a draw for families. A successful first unit led to the addition of Soft Play systems in all of his facilities.
“The benefit is obvious,” says Furnish. “Not only does the playground provide a safe and fun haven for children while their parents exercise, it provides a creative outlet for the kids' own fitness needs. Gold’s mission is to promote exercise, and the Soft Play units fit in perfectly with that philosophy.”
Furnish regrets his decision not to select Soft play from the start.
“I’ll be honest. The first unit we purchased was from a different vendor, and we were dissatisfied,” Furnish says. “Our Soft Play Representative, Bob Twiss, tangibly demonstrated Soft Play’s advantages. Our new unit is of a higher quality, offers increased flexibility and options, and Bob has given us timely delivery and professional service time and again.”
