Grapevine Water Park

Grapevine, TX All Outdoor
Grapevine Water Park, Texas

The REC of Grapevine is the town’s premier facility for residents’ recreational athletics and leisure learning. It’s also home to an indoor water park, and the Grapevine Parks and Rec manages two outdoor pools.

The Grapevine area is a popular suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan region that attracts active, fitness-minded families. The REC at Grapevine’s mission is to deliver engaging year-round recreation opportunities to its approximately 20,000 residents.

Aquatic Play That Works

Soft PlayĀ®Ā and the Grapevine Parks and Rec team worked together to attract the area’s young families with a water park that met their expectations and needs.

The Vision

The REC of Grapevine wanted to ensure continuous aquatic fun for its active residents, regardless of the time of year. The facility also wanted interactive water play elements to appeal to kids of different ages and abilities.

According to the facility’s aquatics supervisor, swimming is an excellent exercise with cardio benefits. That fact made it all the more essential to equip the pools with fun, engaging elements that created return visits, longer stays and increased participation.

The area lies along the Grapevine Prairie, where the growth of wild mustang grapes inspired the town’s name. Parks and recreation leadership wanted customized elements that nodded to the town’s namesake. They turned to Soft Play to createĀ themed water play featuresĀ echoing this association, and our design team undertook the challenge to help fulfill this vision.

The Challenge

Durability was a primary consideration for the Grapevine, Texas, water park. Summers in the region tend to be hot, muggy and sunny, drawing significant crowds to the outdoor pools. Soft Play finished each element with Hydro-TuffĀ®Ā coating to help extend its life span. This surface-finishing material resists abrasion and protects against powerful ultraviolet rays.

Winters are generally cool and windy, so the aquatic fun moves indoors, whereĀ chlorine levels may be more concentrated. Our Hydro-Tuff coating also showcases chlorine-stable properties to help provide longer use.

The REC of Grapevine Water Park Equipment From Soft Play

Facility management partnered with Soft Play for multipleĀ commercial water park play elements.

Lily Pad Water Walk

Soft Play designs and manufacturesĀ various water walk systemsĀ to provide a challenging obstacle for guests to navigate. Grapevine chose a lily pad design to promote imaginative play. Kids can pretend to be frogs hopping across a pond.

Our water walk systems also help Grapevine residents improve focus and problem-solving as they concentrate and determine their next move. Plus, they help with coordination and balance development. A successful crossing leads to more self-confidence.

Custom Floatables

Soft PlayĀ floatables elevate the play experienceĀ by providing elements to swim to, climb upon and jump from. These activities help strengthen muscles, support balance and coordination skills, and encourage imaginative play.

Many water parks have collaborated with Soft Play toĀ bring custom-themed visions to life. For the REC at Grapevine, our team designed bespoke floatable elements in the shape of grape clusters and grape leaves.

We also replaced a log floatable with a larger, friendly-looking dragon to allow more guests to interact simultaneously. The potential for additional kids to play together means they’re learning social skills that can last a lifetime.

The Results

Soft Play and Grapevine Parks and Rec achieved outstanding results for the town’s residents.

Our Floatables Are the Facility’s Most Popular Water Play Feature

In addition to Soft Play elements, the town installed a rock wall and slide, and our floatables have outperformed them. Grapevine Parks and Rec management has reported our products are popular with guests of all ages, frequently accommodating multigenerational play. Adults often use the floatables to relax during adult swim time, and kids use them almost constantly.

Grapevine Parks and Rec Trusted Soft Play With Future Needs

Grapevine Parks and Rec first came to Soft Play to help with its Dove Waterpark in 2013, when we originally designed the grape-cluster floatable honoring the area’s heritage. Our team also supplied a floating log for additional fun and exercise.

When Grapevine was ready to open the indoor park at the REC of Grapevine, it trusted Soft Play to equip it with more floatables. Leadership cited the quality, durability and popularity of our features as primary reasons. They also spoke about the Soft Play team’s can-do attitude and exceptional customer service.
