Soft Play and Dulles International Airport proudly teamed up with NASA to bring traveling tots a fun and exciting play area located in Concourse B, near gate B70. Here, children can enjoy exciting interactive game displays, slide down through “Tommy Tower,” and climb aboard “Supersonic Jet” and “Hyperwing.”
Washington Dulles International Airport, in partnership with NASA, is making travel even more enjoyable for its customers. FamiliesĀ traveling through Dulles International can take off on their very own āFunWayā adventure in a new childrenās airport play areaĀ designed and manufactured by Soft Play.
The Kidsā FunWay is engaging, interactive and offers aviation-themed play elements that encourage children to climb, slide, run, crawl and jump.Ā A kid-sized statue of Orville the Squirrel, named after Orville Wright of the Wright Brothers, welcomes children as they enter.

The airport says the ācenterpieceā of the play area is the āTommy Towerā air traffic control play structure with a slide, thatās modeled after Dulles Internationalās historic air traffic control tower. Ā Additional play area elements include two “futuristic” jets, climbing luggage and tires.

Aviation-Themed Kids’ FunWay Airport Play Area Entertains Children Ages 12 and Under
The walls of the play area are decorated with ākid-friendly educational facts about airplanes and aviation.ā Thereās also a Play Me video game console loaded with more than 100 games in six languages that kids can play solo or together with other kids and parents to compete in two person game play.
Kids, tweens and teens enjoy playingĀ video games on the Play Me wall-mounted video game console, as they wait to depart on their flights at Washington Dulles International Airport.
The Dulles Kids FunWay airport play area isĀ located in Concourse B by gate B70 ā is open to adult-supervised children under 12 and no taller than 42 inches.
The airport play area was dedicated on Aug. 19, 2016 and joined by guests from NASA, a real-life Orville mascot, and students from the Winwood Childrenās Center in Gainesville, Va.
The Soft Play business development team attended the ribbon-cutting and celebration at the Washington Dulles airport play area’s grand opening.

They were really dedicated to providing a state-of-the-art play area that was fun and safe for children. Airport Play Area Entertains Children Ages 12 and Under
The centerpiece of the play area is the āTommy Towerā air traffic control play structure with a slide, modeled after Dulles Internationalās historic air traffic control tower. Additional play area elements include:
Climbing elements: two āfuturisticā jets, climbing luggage and tires.
Kid-friendly educational facts about aviation: one panel explains that a regular commercial passenger airplane flies about 550 miles per hour. Another diagram shows the forces guiding flight, including thrust, lift, drag and weight.
A Play Me video game console is loaded with more than 100 games in six languages that kids can play solo or together with other tweens or parents.
Not only does the play area at Dulles help kids get the wiggles out before long flights, it also caters to the needs of their guardians and older siblings. Included on the outside of the play area is a counter seating with charging ports for cell phones, tablets and laptops.
Located in Concourse B by gate B70, the Dulles Kids FunWay airport play area is open to adult-supervised children under 12 who are no taller than 42 inches. It was dedicated in 2016 by guests from NASA, a real-life Orville mascot, and students from the Winwood Childrenās Center in Gainesville, Va.
